This weekend my swubby and I were talking, catching up after being on separate business trips this past week. That, in and of itself, was a bit weird. Mostly, we travel together or individually, and I like that. My hubby is home when I travel so I don’t have to worry about the house or kids. And, vice versa. It feels odd when we’re both away, but not together.

Remember the bluesy sound of James Brown yowling, ‘It’s a man’s world, but it ain’t nothing without a woman or a girl.’
His raspy voice so full of sadness and remorse. That lyric always lingers in my mind. I mean, really, what does that mean? So I got to wondering about men and woman, the way power dances around and sometimes lives in the most ordinary things. Which naturally lead me to think of the remote control.

We’ve got lots to see and ponder in this week’s Carnival. As the weather here in New England begins to change and mellow, I’m contemplating change, re-invention, for me and my family as we transformed by the new experiences of college and retirement, and changes for America as it tried desperately reclaim hope and integrity as our guiding principles.
John over at SoBabyBoomer.com realizes political change is afoot and wants us to understand why Boomers (or yoomers, in my case) must be active in politics and shaping the fate of the world.
Are folk musicians and their audiences turning gray and fading away? That’s what the Boomer Chronicles wants to know. Are our musical tastes evolving?
